| The film for Daniel Deronda was pretty good, and made me interested in how Eliot wrote the book. I would have liked to see more of Mordecai, because he really had a huge influence on Daniel and his future, but I didnt think that got portrayed enough in the film. On the ending, it ended the only way it should have. Some people didnt like it because Gwen and Dan would have been cute and rich or whatever, but the way it happened, everyone grew into a better person. Gwendolen said she was a better person for knowing Dan, and in doing so showed her growth as a character. If she had been with Dan at the end, her trend of always getting what she wanted, or thought she wanted, would have just kept going, and she would have never been able to grow. Dan finally learned of his Jewish background, married Mirah, and set off to help his people. He needed that for his own well being. I think it was a very happy ending, even though Mordecai dies, because everyone's futures look promising. | |

| I loved this movie mostly because of Gwendolen. Some people have expressed dislike for Gwendolen, but I think she is a great, strong female character. I like that George Eliot made her blatantly flawed, because there really isn't a perfect person out there. It seems like some people dislike her because they can't recognize that almost everyone would feel very similar emotions to hers. Mira, on the other had, sort of bored me. She seemed extremely two dimensional, as did Daniel Deronda. I, along with everyone else, love Daniel, but this is because he is a fairy tale character. The novel should definitely be called Gwendolen Harleth, as she is the masterpiece. | |

| The ending disapointed me so much! I almost wish i never saw the ending! The movie was done in good taste though, truthfully Gwendelen and Deronda could never be, and they were sneaking around to be together. It just seemed like maybe this movie was a lot about destiny. Mordecai predicted that Daniel would find him, Daniel even brought his sister to him. When I think about it maybe it was best that Daniel married Mirah but I would have enjoyed the movie more if got with Gwendelyn | |

| Well I can truely say that Daniel Deronda has to be one of the largest disgraces to man kind that I have ever seen. I mean, come on. That crazy suicidal gothic girl?!? Oh well... At least the poster assignment given in class allowed me to broden my views on why he made such a decision. It seemed interesting how many of the characters had just as large of influence on Daniel has he had on them. Still would have been happier with Gwendolyn...wait till the sequal when it documents the downfall of Daniels life as he realizes he made a large mistake.

| Deronda's a girly man. Any true guy would have pounced on Gwendolyn the day in the casino. He had his chance to get with her but for some reason ditched her for crazy girl with the nice voice. And for some unclear reason, Mr. D ends up marrying her. I really think the only reason he did it was because he discovered his jewish background and felt pressured to live out his mothers wishes. The mother had abandoned him up until that point in his life, i would have no problem abandoning her wishes. I say to hell with the mom, go with the blonde. | |

| i couldn't just discuss one character because all of them were so important to the movie. There is usually one character who affects the main character the most, but in the movie Daniel Deronda everyone played a significant part. Wether it was gwendolen who always wanted the best for herself, daniel who wanted the best for everyone else,or grandcourt who wanted completely everything. If you were to take one of these characters out the movie would not be whole, there would be this emptiness throughout the film. | |

| Gwen married to help her family out and feed her need for status. It is too bad her sugar daddy ended up being a scary rapist. Gwen was a shallow person to start out with and Daniel was too good for her. Daniel can get any girl and knows it so you could say he is a tease. The ending is fitting Gwen gets this epiphany about the meaning of life and Dan goes off to start a Jewish nation with his Jewess. Every one got what they deserved. | |

| I enjoyed the film overall but like many others was disappointed by the ending. Throughout the flim I was sure Grandcourt would eventually get what he deserved leaving Deronda to receive the inheritance and marry Gwendolen. However, around when Grandcourt dies, Deronda learns he is a Jew (and not Mallinger's son) and all of the sudden decides he is in love with Mirah and believes Mortecai in that he should lead the Jews. To be perfectly honest, I was kind of thrown off by the ending because I wanted to see Daniel get everything he wanted at the beginning of the film. I would have rathered the ending go like this: Daniel turns out to be Mallinger's son, who before his death admits it to the public and leaves his inheritence to Daniel who also marries the girl who he had won over with his charm. The end. | |

| I found the ending pleasing, as I thought that Gwendolen would have caused too much trouble in Daniel's life. I think that Meera fit him quite well and that she had more intrinsic value and emotional worth than Gwendolen. I thought that Grandcourt's drowning was a little too convenient for the ending, because it came at too pivotal a time in the characters' lives. But overall, I thought the ending as a whole fit the prior moods and messages of Elliot's Daniel Deronda. | |
